Bob's Anatomy

Bob fell on the stairs on Friday (it all involved a dachshund and a laundry basket) and although he and Shelly the minature dachshund avoided serious injury, Bob caught his toe against the railing. At first he thought he might have broken it. I was at Context in Columbus so I gleefully announced to a roomful of people that my husband was running late because he had broken his toe. I kept promising people I would post a photo of it--we've been taking digital photos of his bruised, swollen and probably sprained rather than broken toe. But now Bob says he doesn't want me to post the picture because it's gross.

So I ask you, America, to tell me. Do you want to see a photo of Bob's bruised little toe?

After finally meeting you and Bob at Context, I can say I would love to see a photo of his little toe. ;)

Do we slow down to look at car wrecks?

Of COURSE we want to see Bob's broken toe!

Show both little toes, so we can see the contrast.

Having suffered four broken toes in the course of my adventurous life, I'd have to say that I have seen enough.

Been there, done that, had the cast signed.

Now if Shelley the Miniature Dachshund had bitten the toe off and eaten it, I would be demanding pictures.

OMG! I fell down the stairs at work on Fri just before I got into the car to drive to Context. How funny!

Waiting ...

(you could throw in a pic of Shelley to increase the suspense ...)

As a writer, I feel bound to experience everything, even Bob's little toe.

If Bob is too shy about showing his broken toe, you could do an image search for someone elses toe, and post that instead. That way, the reader gets a big payoff, a real picture of a broken toe, but maybe from a fictional Bob.

Alternately, you could take a picture of the toe on Bob's other foot, do a little work in photoshop, and post that. You could post that the image is 'based on real events', but you keep creative control on the amount of damage revealed to the viewer.

I will post the promised picture (but in such a way you have to click to see it) as soon as I remember what my ftp settings are.

Maybe Bob can use a toe double, giving him some privacy and satifying his clamoring public at the same time.

My condolences to him!

Eileen's solution sounds good. If you decide to take it, I actually have some toe pix that I'm not allowed to post. Sympathies to Bob and wishes for quick healing.
