last night before Project Runway we were watching some show that was documenting the The American Pie Council's Crisco National Pie Championships--it was pure torture. all the pies looked amazing, and i guess if you win that thing, it could mean thousands and thousands of dollars worth of pie sales.

anyways, after my parents got divorced, my dad was always trying to get me to go over to my grandma's (mom's mom) house and get her to teach me how to make pies, so i could come back and teach him. some sort of covert pie-spying action. he said, "i don't miss your mother, but i do miss the cooking."

good thing i'm marrying a baker.

Austin, making a pie takes skill but compared to, say, learning to type, it's not a really complicated skill. You're fiance will have you whipping out pies in no time.

But I admit to cheating on the crust of this one. It's store bought puff pastry. Pie crust I make from scratch, but puff pastry is SUCH a pain...
